Yes, there are four magnetic buckles that are used for the quick release design that allows for reattaching the pouch with extreme ease.

Magnets will have a slight effect on a compass/device. However, if you are able to hold your compass/device out an arms length it will no longer have an effect.

No, you should not use the Quick Release Chest Packs with a pace maker.
